The famous Clark and Clark study was based on the effects of segregation. Kenneth and Mamie Clark were husband and wife who conducted the famous “Doll Test”. They used four dolls, exactly the same except for the colour, and asked African-American children, aged from three to seven, to choose their preferred one. Most f the children chose the white doll. Consequently, Clark concluded that inferiority is invoked in coloured children through prejudice, self-esteem, and segregation. Segregationists could possibly argue on the results of Clark and Clark study that the constitution of America does not need black and white children to be together, for example, at schools.
